Show hidden files in finder

Change finder to show dot files

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

Then click control option and the finder icon and relaunch

Show hidden files when in a file selection window

When in a file selection window hit Command -> Shift -> Period to see hidden files
